Interested in joining the lab?

Graduate students (2024/2025 Academic year)

I am seeking an enthusiastic student at the MS level interested in pursuing research about climate impacts on plant communities and restoration.

Based upon their questions/interests, the student can pursue their research in the greenhouse, lab, field, and/or computer modeling/simulations.

The lab is part of the Department of Animal and Rangeland Sciences at Oregon State University. The lab is based in Eastern Oregon at the Eastern Oregon Agricultural Research Center (EOARC) in Union, Oregon (about 20 minutes from La Grande, Oregon).

If you are interested in joining the lab please contact me via email (trace.martyn @ oregonstate.edu). Please attach a resume/CV to an email in which you discuss:

  1. Your research interests and how they align with the lab’s interests

  2. Your educational background

  3. Research experience (if applicable)

  4. Why you are interested in attending graduate school

This position will be supported through a research assistantship. Individuals from traditionally excluded groups in science and higher education are encouraged to apply.

PhD students

I currently do not have research assistantship funding for a PhD student. I am happy to work with students on grant applications such as the NSF GRFP (applications deadlines are usually mid-October).

Undergraduate students
Any undergraduate interested in joining the lab through paid work positions and/or independent research positions, please feel free to contact me via email.

Postdoctoral researchers
I do not currently have funding to support postdoctoral researchers, but would happily support applications for postdoctoral fellowships such as NSF, NIFA, Smith Fellowships, and others. Please feel free to reach out if you have questions/interest in applying for these fellowships.
